I've been an avid movie goer since high school when I started doing one paragraph movie reviews for the school newspaper. Every three weeks, those same reviews were published in the small town paper. At the time, my snippets were written to provide the essence or atmosphere of the film without revealing any major plot details, ensuring the film wouldn't be ruined for readers.
Since January 2005, I have begun reviewing movies I see in Coralville and Iowa City, Iowa at the local cinemas here where I attend 7-12 films each month. Although my reviews are no longer one paragraph events, I still attempt to avoid revealing too much of the plot, focusing on my opinion of the film's events and atmosphere.
